The IRD have asked us to make our clients aware of two recent scams affecting IRD Customers.
A phishing attack mimicking IRD’s website. Customers receive an email saying they’re eligible for a tax refund. The phishing link redirects the customers to a fake page with multiple redirects to fake banking links.
Another email scam is asking New Zealand taxpayers to complete a Property Disclosure return (IR 4T). If you receive this email, please ignore it and delete it. Don’t complete the IR 4T or send it to the fax number or email address in the email.
If you receive one of the above emails please report to: [email protected]
If you ever receive a call from someone claiming to be from the IRD or a suspicious email, and you are unsure if it is legitimate, please do not hesitate to contact the office and we can look into the matter further for you.
