Contact Tracing for Business

May 12, 2020

A lot of you will already have some type of contact tracing in place, and with most businesses set to open on Thursday under level 2, the government has announced that Businesses must continue to keep contact tracing records of anyone who will have close interaction (workers, contractors and customers).

We have found a free app to assist you with you contact tracing efforts.

Media Suite is a software development company based in Christchurch. They are a government-approved vendor and have designed, developed and managed numerous government websites and systems over the years.

Shortly after NZ went into lockdown, Environment Canterbury – the government agency responsible for running public transport in Canterbury, reached out to for help with their contact tracing efforts. They developed a web app that allows passengers to securely register their journeys on any of their services. In the event that contact tracing is required Environment Canterbury are able to share information with the district health board. The app has successfully registered thousands of journeys in the few weeks it has been running.

Knowing that contact tracing is likely to be the key to stamping out COVID-19 while keeping businesses open, they got to thinking: how do we build on this success, do something to help businesses get up and running quickly, and strengthen NZ’s contact tracing response?

The answer led them to create tracing.co.nz.

With many businesses out there struggling at the moment, there’s one final thing they’ve done. You can register here and use this app for free.

They know every little bit counts and hope this helps to ease the pressure.
